30th Sitting of Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between RA NA and RF FA Held

On November 2, in the RA National Assembly the 30th sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the RA National Assembly and the RF Federal Assembly, moderated by the Co-Chairs of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee Artashes Geghamyan and Nikolai Ryzhkov began its work.

In their welcoming remarks the Co-Chairs of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee have underlined that the ally relations of the two countries are based on the friendship and centuries-old traditions. Noting that in the development of the relations between Armenia and Russia the Inter-Parliamentary Committee has its unique place, they expressed hope that the discussions would be an additional impetus in the solution of different issues.

In the first part of the sitting the theme “The development of mutually integration processes in the sphere of economy for the fulfillment of the address made by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the address by the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.” Within the framework of the theme from Armenia the RA Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan delivered a speech, and the from the Russian side Director of Department for Economic Cooperation with CIS Countries and Development of Eurasian Integration of the RF Ministry of Economic Development Rafael Abramyan gave a speech.

The speakers touched upon the opportunities of the legal-contractual field in the expansion of the economic cooperation of the two countries. The priorities of the economic development, the steps taken in the investment policy, industry, tourism, agriculture, scientific-technical sphere and in a number of spheres were presented, the growth of the volumes of the goods turnover between the two countries after joining the EEU and the opportunities given by the EEU for enlivening the economy were touched upon.

In the second part of the sitting the deputies gave speeches. They touched upon the problems of the RA citizens living in Russia, the issue of selling weapons to Azerbaijan by Russia, highlighted the strengthening of the relations between the regions, the cooperation also in the humanitarian, cultural and information technology spheres. In the expansion of sustainable relations between the two countries the Armenian and Russian delegates emphasized the considerable role of the Committee.

The participants referred to the perspectives of the economic development of the two countries and the opportunities of cooperation. They also discussed other issues relating to the work of the Committee.

The next sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee will be held in Murmansk. Assignments for the elaboration of the working actions on the formation of the next sitting agenda were given.

At the end of the sitting Artashes Geghamyan and Nikolai Ryzhkov signed a protocol.

After the end of the sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee the Co-Chairs of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee Artashes Geghamyan and Nikolai Ryzhkov presented the format of the debated issues at the sitting.
